About the Author:
I am Olena Morentsova - a writer deeply in love with life, cinema, and the power of a well-told story.
A novelist, screenwriter, and film producer.Member of the European Film Academy, the Ukrainian Film Academy, EWA Network, and Erasmus Young Entrepreneurs Alumni.
My journey began in journalism over 15 years ago, continued in television, and since 2017 I have fully dedicated myself to screenwriting- first for Ukrainian cinema, and later to bringing our stories to international audiences.
So they can be seen, heard, and truly felt ✨
I have been writing for as long as I can remember. Stories are my way of breathing, feeling, and existing in the world. I transform screenplays into novels, and in return receive hundreds of letters from readers who recognize themselves in these stories. That, to me, is the greatest reward.
My films reach #1 on Netflix, are selected for international festivals, and screened in cultural and diplomatic programs around the world - but most importantly, they find their way into people’s hearts.
Because a story, when told truthfully, has the power to change the way we see ourselves - and the world. ✨
When my team and I first began working on our feature film “Taste of Freedom”, I dreamed of creating more than just a film. I envisioned a 360° project - where the story, its themes, and our authentic culinary heritage could unfold across multiple formats.
The novel Taste of Freedom, based on the screenplay, was expanded with culinary bonuses, exclusive behind-the-scenes materials, and additional chapters that deepened the story world.
The book resonated so deeply with readers that I joyfully continued working on a second novel. At the same time, I have been developing another dream project - reissuing one of the books by Olha Franko, a remarkable cultural figure we are currently working with (more details soon).
What we are now creating together with Vivat Publishing is the realisation of a deeply personal dream ✨
As a child, I didn’t know I would write films or novels. My creative path has been shaped by curiosity, courage, and a belief in dreams. Today, I want to stand рядом with those whose eyes light up with the same love for storytelling.
I know what it feels like to move from a chaotic idea to a finished screenplay - and I help others walk this path with more clarity, confidence, and ease. That is why I created OmWritersClub - a space where:
• beginners overcome the fear of the first draft• writers gain clarity and structure• and a love for cinema transforms into real creative skills
I now live in Paris - a city that inspires me every day. A place where stories are quite literally in the air, waiting to be captured.
